Dedicated to Fancy Guppy breeding in the UK
There is a popular belief within the hobby that Guppies are a hardy fish that can be neglected and yet still flourish and that they are a fish for the beginner. If you subscribe to this belief then I hope that this and the future articles will change your mind and possibly even convert you to that of a Guppy enthusiast. For those of you who don't subscribe to this belief and already know just how fascinating and challenging Guppies can be, I hope that you find at least something that you can take from this and the follow up articles. But before I start I would like to set out the order in which I hope the articles will appear. 1. Guppy history 2. Setting up a basic overview 3. Various breeding methods line breeding, outcrosses etc. 4. Guppy development, health and diseases 5. Showing your Guppies After these articles I will move on to the subject of genetics within the Guppy hobby and how by understanding the genetic make up of your particular strain you can go on to design your own unique strain, but be warned this is high level stuff and if you get hooked you will need plenty of room for the extra tanks that you will undoubtedly need. I am also trying to twist the arms of some of the American Guppy enthusiasts to write one or two articles. This article is copyright© and may not be reproduced without the permission of the author.
